Amigo (Edward Bruce Williamson, 1933) is a distinguished Tall Bearded iris introduced in the mid-1930s, renowned for its refined color combination and historical significance. This midseason bloomer features light blue standards paired with velvety purple falls, creating a classic and elegant contrast. Amigo was long considered the benchmark for neglecta irises, admired for its unique coloration and garden performance. The blooms are modest in size and borne on slender stalks, with a slight fragrance adding to its appeal. Notably, Amigo contains magniferin, a fluorescent orange pigment identified in scientific studies.
