American Pride

American Pride (James Begley by Barbara BeVier, 2007) is a commanding tall bearded iris that stands at 39" and delivers a memorable midseason display. Its sculptural white standards are elegantly flushed with lavender at the midrib, complemented by white style arms tipped in lavender and edged in warm toast. The falls are a saturated blue violet (RHS 93A) with a lighter rim that transitions to violet (83A) at the hafts, accented by a white area intricately reticulated with violet around bushy, red (44A) beards. With its painterly color contrasts and bold, graphic patterning, American Pride is a gallery-worthy, garden showpiece that brings dynamic presence and pedigree-worthy appeal to any landscape.
