American Original

American Original (Richard Tasco, 2014) is a tall bearded iris reaching 41" (104 cm) and blooming early to midseason. This variety features standards with a yellow-white ground, mostly covered by a rich dark burgundy wash, and amber-gold style arms accented by brown-brick red crests and a blush at the midrib. The falls display a yellow-white ground with a broad burgundy plicata wash and dotting, highlighted by a cold white center. Moderately ruffled petals and medium purple-based foliage add to its visual appeal. Notably, American Original offers a pronounced citrus fragrance.
