🌿 Guardian Gardens Program

Amethyst Creek Farm is a proud participant in the Guardian Gardens program.

Guardian Gardens is a preservation initiative led by the Historic Iris Preservation Society (HIPS), dedicated to protecting and propagating rare and endangered iris cultivars. Through this program, a network of passionate growers across the country commits to rescuing irises at risk of being lost and ensuring their survival for future generations.

At Amethyst Creek Farm, we actively grow and protect a carefully curated collection of endangered iris varieties. These irises—some of which exist in only a handful of known gardens—are cultivated with great care. Our work supports the national preservation effort by maintaining genetic diversity, participating in identification and restoration efforts, and helping distribute viable rhizomes back into circulation when possible.

 

🌱 Why it matters: Many historic irises have disappeared from commercial catalogs and are only preserved thanks to growers like us. By participating in the Guardian Gardens program, we help safeguard living horticultural history.
